The Noorda Center for the Performing Arts in collaboration with Utah Repertory Theater Company is pleased to announce open auditions for the award-winning Broadway thriller "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." The production will be part of the inaugural season of the Noorda Center for the Performing Arts  (

The roles of Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett have been pre-cast and will be played by, respectively, Tony nominee Will Swenson and Jacquelyne Jones, a former UVU student, who earned the Jeff Award (the regional equivalent of a Tony Award) for her performance as Mrs. Lovett at Chicago’s Theo Ubique Theatre Company.

All cast members will be paid $2,000 for their participation in the show, which include a $300 rehearsal stipend and a performance fee of $100 per performance for a total of 17 performances.  "Sweeney Todd" will be accompanied by a live orchestra. Rehearsals begin in early September. This is a non-Equity casting call. Ages 18+.  Cast of 19 (to include nine principals and ten ensemble members).

For auditions, please prepare two contrasting 16 measures of legit musical theater selections.  Bring clearly marked sheet music.  No tracks or recorded music or acapella singing. Please note that you may only be asked to perform one of your selections, so pick the selection you prefer to perform first, and have the other selection ready in case the directors would like to hear it. Also, please bring a list of conflicts between September 1 and November 9, along with a headshot and resume. The show runs October 24-November 9.
